TGS Gyva 365 – Alive 365 (soil cover remains alive during the winter)

The soil is alive – it has various life processes going on all the time. It is home to insects, arthropods, rodents, earthworms, nematodes, fungi, bacteria, etc. Their life cycle requires food and energy. Cover/catch crops help maintain food chains for soil biota when other crops are not cultivated, in this way reducing the stability risk to soil biota populations, which is critically important for healthy soil. The greater the diversity of soil biota, the less chance there is for intervention of new microorganisms (pathogens). Earthworms do a great job of improving soil structure. If certain biota species (nematodes, pathogens) start to cause problems, to control them the appropriate cover/catch crop plants (nematode-resistant fodder radish or mustard, plants with biofumigation, allelopathic activity) should be selected.
